GSA Library supported the University of Glasgow/Glasgow School of Art’s writer-in-residence scheme through its resources and collections and the support of its staff. We worked closely with the writers-in-residence to identify student workshops that could be delivered in the Library, and the Library collections that could support these workshops.
Previous initiatives have included a hugely successful programme of creative writing classes with poet and playwright Liz Lochhead, and Five Fridays with novelist Louise Welsh: a series of five creative writing workshops that involved a mix of discussion, reading and practical exercises. Themes included writing from life, the gothic, structure and plot, place, and time shifts. All were delivered within the Library.
