We are currently exhibiting work by Laurie Clark on our mezzanine level. This display is located by the stairwell and is part of a series of displays curated by David Bellingham.
Laurie Clark is an Artist who lives and works in Pittenweem, Scotland, where she runs Moschatel Press with her husband Thomas A. Clark, and Cairn, a small gallery space for contemporary art. Clark typically uses nature as the subject for her drawings, and has been known to collaborate with her husband, contributing illustrations to his books of poetry.
The display features drawings and artists’ books depicting the buttercups and harebells which are native to Scotland. These works were originally published in 2010 and 2012, but here Bellingham combines them with newer art multiples designed by Clark. The inclusion of these objects compliments Clark’s colour-scheme, and the delicate detailing of her drawings.
This is really lovely display which captures the change in the Scottish countryside as we ease into warmer weather.
